Mangalore, April 9: It has been reported that in the name of moral policing, a Muslim computer Science student, resident of Nellikatte, Puttur has been beaten up mercilessly by a group of youths believed to be from Hindu outfit while he was on his way to home after attending computer class on April 8, Monday.
Reason behind this attack was trivial; as the boy named Zubair, son of Hassanar studying at private college in Puttur was talking to his classmate, happen to be a Hindu girl.
According to the statement given by Zubair, he was first attacked by one Narmesh from Madavu in Keyyur village and other unidentified person while he was on his way back to home from college. He said duo have questioned him for speaking to a Hindu girl and attacked him. Later another gang of around ten assailants reportedly chased him up to Puttur bus stand and then attacked.
The injured student got admitted in the government hospital and undergoing treatment. He has also filed a police complaint, it is said.
Puttur police have registered a case in this regard and investigation is on.
