Mangalore, Nov 21: The renovated temple lake of Shri Ananthapadmanabha Temple at Kudupu, inaugurated on Friday November 22 with benediction by Sri Vidyaprasanna Thirtha Swamiji of Sri Narasimha Swamy Math, Subramanya.
The renovation and beautification of the temple lake is part of the overall renovation project of the temple and has cost Rs 60 lacs, including the renovation of the platform in the middle of the lake. The steps leading to the tank, made of laterite stone, have been relaid.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, Jayaram Bhat, Managing Director of Karnataka Bank, Jayaprakash, Assistant Commissioner of Mujrai Department, Moidin Bava, MLA and Vijaynath Vittal Shetty, Chief Co-ordinator of Sri Shastavu Bhoothanatheshwara Temple participated as chief guests.
K Krishna Raj Tantri, Working President of Temple Renovation Committee, informed that the temple is being renovated at a cost of Rs 9 crore. The annual celebrations of the Kudupu Temple will begin from December 3 and the Kiru Shashti Utsav will be on January 6, 2014, he informed.
The religious rituals are scheduled as ‘Sarpa Vaahanostava’ on December 5, ‘Skunda Panchami’ on December 5, ‘Skanda Panchami’ on December 7, ‘Shasti Mohostava’ on December 8, ‘Dwajaarohana’ on December 15, ‘Avabruthotsava’ on December 18, ‘Jaarandaya Nema’ on December 19 and ‘Kirishasti Utsava will be celebrated on January 6, 2014.
