Mangalore, Nov. 8: the decision taken by Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah on ’Shaadi Bhagya’ Scheme and ‘Anti-Superstitious Bill’ is not acceptable said Former Union Minister,B Janardhana Poojary.

Addressing the press persons here on Friday, November 8 Poojary said that the Superstitious Practices Bill of state govt. should not be implemented. Religious sentiments of all communities including Muslim, Christians will be hurt by this not alone Hindus.

He further said that the Chief Minister in the state till date is appreciated, but these two schemes are not acceptable. He has sent a memorandum to the CM in connection with this, urging him to make necessary changes in these schemes.

Some of the religious practices like Devdasi system, animal sacrifice, human sacrifice, bettale seve (offering in nude) have been banned. There are laws in place but they are being implemented. The Government should concentrate on implementing these laws than bringing new laws.”Poojary said.

Regarding to Shadi Bhagya he said  “financial status should be considered as criteria for implementing schemes and not religion. The State Government should extend the Shaadi Bhagya scheme to other communities as well.”

Congress members Kallige Tharanath Shetty, Arun Coelho, Harikrishna Bantwal and Purandardas Kulur were present.
