2.5 kg Gold seized at Mangalore Airport

Mangalore, Oct 25: Customs officials at Mangalore International Airport on Thursday October 24 seized around 2.5 kg of gold which was illegally being brought in two separate flights. One person has been arrested in this connection.

In the first incident, Customs officials found 1.5 kg gold in the luggage of a passenger who arrived by the Air India Express flight from Dubai. He has been taken into custody.

In the second incident, security personnel found 1 kg of gold hidden under the seat of a Jet Airways flight which landed in the airport from Dubai. The gold was handed over to the customs officials.

Six rods of gold coated with steel were found in this case, sources said.
