Mangalore, Oct 24: Campus Front of India (CFI) tried to gatecrash into the DC’s office here on Thursday October 24. The police intervened and detained them.
The CFI staged a rally demanding CBI probe into the rape and murder of Sowjanya from University College, Hampankatta to DC’s office, where they tried to siege the DC office. However, they were stopped by the Pandeshwar police, gathered into vehicles and taken away to the police station.
The protestors then converged in front of the DC office, shouted slogans and demanded that the DC met them and hear their demand.
They also carried the effigy of ‘apathetic’ politicians in a mock funeral procession
The CFI members said that even after a year since the rape and murder of Sowjanya her parents have not got justice. To close the case the police have arrested a mentally ill person as accused. But all knows it is not done by him.
They further said that few people belonging to the Dharmasthala family are involved in the case, but no action has been taken against them. The case was handed over to CID after public pressure, still has been no progress,” they said.
“Mohammed Iqbal, CFI state president, Mohammed Thufail, state committee member, Mohammed Tafseer, state secretary, district president Sanaulla, and other members were present.
