Kundapur;Oct 11: After conferring the Dr.Shivaram Karanth Huttoora Prashashti on educationist Dr.Mohand Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Trust in a ceremony held at Shambavi School premises,Kota on Oct 10,Thursday,Vinaya Kumar Sorake,minister for urban development and district in charge said in his speech that when a person accepts the principles of Dr.Karanth and is awarded for working in the same field, then the award becomes more meaningful.
He further said that today there is the need of human resources and humanity should be inculcated in them.Dr.Karanth has corrected many of the mistakes in the society through his writings and poems and made his writings available to people of all sections.
He highlighted the clear picture of backward class people and others to the general public and he should be respected for his efforts in showing the reality of the society to the people. It is really appreciable to name the award after such a great writer and thinker like Dr Karanth,” added Sorake.
D.V.Sadananda Gowda, former chief minister has inaugurated the programme and said in his address that no man in this world without emotions. By building emotional relationship with others, we can bring changes in the society. Even Dr.Karanth wished for the change and worked for enriching emotions amongst people.
Dr.Mohan Alva, acknowledging the honour said that we tend to think that people are mad when they fully involve themselves in art and culture but it is not mad, it is an attraction, he said
He further said that for the last 19 years Alva’s virasat has set up 60 units in different parts of the country.
Along with knowledge, good education, a good heart is also important. In this modernized world, let us working on uniting people and building a value based life, said Dr Alva stating that he is happy to receive an award named after a great personality like Dr Karanth.
MP Jayaprakash Heggde, Vidhana Parishat member Kota Srinivas Poojary, taluk panchayat president Gowri Poojary, zp president Upendra Nayak, taluk panchayat CEO D Manjunathayya, Sunitha Rajaram, Bharath Kumar Shetty, Shiva Poojary, Nilavar Surendra Adiga among others were present.
Dr Karath Prathistan working president Anand C Kunder welcomed the gathering. National award winner retired teacher Sridhar Hande introduced Dr Mohan Alva in the form of a song.
The programme was compered by Mamatha. Prior to the stage programme, a procession was taken from Kotathattu gram panchayat presided.
After the award ceremony, around 150 students of Moodbidri Alva’s College entertained audience with cultural programme.
