Udupi; Oct 06: It has been reported that in an accident, wherein a drunkard man climbed the top of electricity pole and created an atmosphere of panic and anxiety amongst the public.
Sources said one drunkard man, identified as Rajesh, a resident of Mangalore at around 1.30 pm in the afternoon climbed the top of electricity pole under inebriated condition and sat on it. He did not oblige the public’s repeated plea to come down. Then the police only had to bring him down through ladder, it said.
Thereafter he started jumping from building to building from the electricity pole, from where he was sitting .A total of three buildings he jumped, sources said.
After seeing the man on the top of electricity pole, the scared public informed the matter to the MESCOM officials. As the power was cut off immediately, he was luckily saved.
The man, who after got down from the pole near Geetanjali theatre, climbed two buildings and from the third building near Abharana, he was brought down. After hearing the news about the climbing of the electricity pole, fire brigade vehicle also arrived to the spot.
Three people from the public helped in the process of bringing down the man from the top of the electricity pole. In that, Manjunath Haralesh from Haveri also co-operated in the process, it said.
Now he was taken to police station by the Udupi city police and is under the custody of them, sources said.
