Karkala: Govt sanctions 21 crore for the developmental works of city’s main roads; Work commences by December-says MLA

Karkala; Oct 04: Addressing the media reporters in the press meet held at Karkala Vikas office on October 03, Thursday, V.Sunil Kumar, MLA said in his address that under highways development programme, the government has sanctioned 21 crore for the development of all the city’s main roads in the taluk and work for the same will be started by the end of coming December.

Starting from Karkala’s Phulkeri via Ajekar-Mudradi road and up to Aagumbe Ghat, from Shivapura to Naadsal road will be developed and from Karkala Bhavani mill junction to Jodurasthe about 6 kilometer stretch road will be converted into four-lanes, he added.

Besides all the damaged roads due to heavy rains will also get facelift along with the process of putting tar on the damaged roads again.

The fund for the construction of swimming pool, which is being constructed at the cost of Rs 30 crore in the taluk’s indoor stadium, has been kept reserved and we are also planning to construct a shuttle-badminton court in the coming days and proposal has already been presented in front of the government for approval. For the Nitte and multi-villages drinking water second phase of works,Rs 5 crore for Hebri and Rs 3 crore for Nitte,approval has been obtained for the release of the fund.In this connection government has asked to submit detailed progress report (DPR).

Further, he said that again within three months time, tendering process will take place for the  resuming the pending works, which were stopped in between. In view of solving drinking water problem, the request has been forwarded to the minister for rural development for the sanction of 10 multi-village projects in the taluk. Responding to the request, he has already directed the district panchayat to submit detailed report to the ministry immediately, he said.
