To mark the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, an eye donation camp was organized at Kalladka Shriram Pre-university College, in association with Sriram Vidhya Kendra and News 13 media here on October 2.
After inaugurating the camp, Kateel said that Eyes are the precious gift given to humans by God Eyes are very valuable part of the human being, which should not be wasted either by burning or burying the body.
On the occasion, the MP pledged to donate his eyes.
Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, convener of Sri Rama Vidya Kedra said the people need to think about others especially the blind. Donation of the eyes gives sight to two blind persons. He urged the people to donate eyes so that the blind can see through their eyes.
Dr Divya Laxmi , doctor of K S Hegde hospital briefed the importance of donating eyes.
The president of the institution Narayan Somayaji, docor of K.S.Hegde medical college Dr Hrishikesh Amin, Padmanabha Kottari, Dr. Kamala Prabhakar were also present.
Sunil Kulakarni of News 13 proposed the key note address; Principal Krishna Prasad welcomed the gathering. The student Rashmi proposed vote of thanks.
More than 370 people pledged to donate their eyes on the occasion.
