Karkala; Sept 19: It has been reported that within 24 hours of first case of robbery, which occurred on Sept 16, Tuesday by spraying chilly powder on shop owner’s eyes and decamped with gold ornaments worth value of 42 lac and then trapped by the police, another case of robbery reported at Kaabettu Santhosh jewelry in front of Sheetal bar and fled with gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 17.75 lac.
Sources said that this time robbers entered inside the shop by breaking the door lock of the iron work shop situated just behind of Santhosh jewelry shop, owned by Sudhakar Acharya and from there robbers made a hole on the wall by drilling and then entered inside the shop. Then they cut the safe locker by using gas cutter and robbed around 600 grams of gold, 1.500 kg silver ornaments. Besides they also took with them the CC camera’s DVR box in the intention of not to leave any clues to the police. Since the DVR box has been taken by robbers, now it has become a million dollar question to police in investigating the incident.
Karkala city police have arrived to the spot of incident and took the finger print of the safe locker and recovered gas cutter left behind by the robbers, used for cutting the safe locker. After observing the incident, police suspected that a thin and small person might have entered through this small hole and this work has been done by professional robbers. Also said that there is a vast similarity between the thefts occurred few months back at Ganga gold and this theft.
District SP Boralingayya, who arrived to the Karkala city police station and discussed with police officers about the future course of action to be taken for further investigation after taking the details of this two incidents.
ASP Annamalai, SP Santhosh Kumar, Valantine D’Souza, circle inspector, Pramodh Kumar, station superintendent were present on the occasion and suggested their valuable suggestions.
Police has expressed their confidence in investing both the cases and arresting the culprits at the earliest possible.
