Mangalore, Sep.10 : Beltangady taluk hitharakshna vedike President Mr.Pratap Simha Nayak said in the press meeting that since the people are not fully aware of the advantages and disadvantages of this Nethravati river project , it is better to postpone the foundation programme which was suppose to be on September 14.
This project aims to harness water from Netravathi river tributary at Yettinahole in Hassan district and divert it to drought prone areas of Chikkaballapur , Kolar, Tumkur and rural districts of Bangalore. It also aims in providing adequate drinking water to the districts.
Mr.Pratap Simha Nayak has put forward that the government should appoint specialist and experts in the field to maintain ecological balance and to create cognizance among the people towards the consequences before proceeding with the project.
Mr. Yogesh Kumar , Mr. Pushparaj Jain, Mr. Balakrishna Shetty , Mr. B.K Dhananjaya , Mr.Keshva Ballal were the members present in the press meet.
