Kundapur; Sept 04 : In order to make, Udipi district, a child labor free centre some volunteers organizations, District’s post –graduate students and sincere, dedicated authorities team have been conducting raids on some places on doubt and used to take custody of minor child labors.
A team of authorities, who conducted a raid ,in one of the flats in apartments in Kinni Mulky, on September 03, Wednesday and traced a 13 year girl- a child labor and registered in Spoorthidhama for rehabilitation in Belur.
On the basis of authentic information, authorities who conducted a raid in that apartment on September 03, Tuesday, taken the girl under their custody, who is a resident of Hunsehalli in N R Pura taluk of Chickmaglur district. She disclosed to the authorities that she was studying in 7th standard at her native place and due to her poverty she was forced to abandon her studies and came to Udupi and joined as child care- taker in one of the apartments.
But family of the apartment, where girl was engaged as a house servant told the authorities that she is related to them, not brought her for home works, hardly completed one week and continuing her studies in eighth standard. But as per the preliminary informations, it has been revealed that she has not been going to school from April.
Girl still has not completed fourteen years and hence it is not advisable to keep her in Udupi after made her to discontinue her studies and team, took her under their custody. Since her age was confirmed from the relevant documents, authorities warned the flat owner, who employed the girl as house servant that stringent action will be taken according to the child- labor prohibition act.

Don’t utilize minors for labour: Dr Keshava Koteshwara, Spoorthidhama director said that utilizing minor children for work is a crime. It is unfortunate that in spite of awareness, publicity about the child labour prohibition act, educated classes only violating the laws and strict action will be taken against the violators and ensure that district free from child labour, child begging.
