Motivation matters, says Chethan Bhagat

chetan-bhagathMangalore, August 24, 2013: The youth of Mangalore who had so far read or watched the movies based on the novels of well-known writer and speaker Chetan Bhagat, got an opportunity to listen to the famed author at a live programme in the city on Saturday.

chetan-bhagath1Chetan Bhagat addressed Mangaloreans for the first time ever, in a talk programme on ‘Leadership and goal setting’ organised by Manipal Ace Event Management Company at T M A Pai Hall on Saturday. In his piece of advice to the young students who dream big, Bhagat said motivation factor matters more than the factors like ability, intelligence and competency for achieving in life. One must distinguish between the motivation techniques used for achieving short-term and long-term goals.

Frequently touching upon his life experiences and giving examples of his success story, Chetan Bhagat was humorous in telling “If I can reach this heights, anybody else can.” He said the success of an individual depends on one’s response to circumstances and the definition of success varies from individual to individual.

chetan-bhagath2“For me success is to reach more number of people for bringing a change in their thought process and according to estimation, I have been successful in reaching 4 to 5 crore of Indian population,” he said.

The author insisted the students not to quit while on their way to success. Never be de-motivated. The person who dreams to achieve big has to follow six important steps which includes, setting a clear goal, analyse the reasons behind the goal, finding the group, preparing detailed action plan, set back daily mechanism and faith.

In his talk that lasted for one-and-a-half hour, Bhagat was humourous while touching upon various aspects of motivation.
