Kundapur; August 20: It has been reported in the heart of city’s popular building that thieves entered the building by breaking the doors on August 19, Monday late at night and decamped with gold and silvers along with cash from 5-6 shops worth rupees in lacs.
It was suspected that the burglary might have occurred at popular building, adjacent to old post office in main road between 2.00 am to 5.00 am.In one of the burgled shops, images of two burglars have been captured in CC camera, it was told.
Sources said that by breaking the doors of gold shops of Guru Prasad Shet, Naveen and Dinesh Acharya, Chandrama Thallur’s book stall and Ayurveda products shop, thieves collected from these shops whatever they got in hand and from there they made a big hole in the wall of gold shop in the complex belonging to Vishwanath Acharya, Prashanth Acharya and Ravindra Acharya.Gold from these gold shop and cash from the book shop has been burgled by the thieves.
The incident came to light when the owner of the shop came to open the shop in the morning and became public later. It is said that one of the suspects visible in the CC camera may be around 45-50 years of age and other one seems to be around 25-30 years of age.
DYSP Yashodha S, Manjunath Khavri, Ontigodi circle inspector S I Revathi from crime branch department among others have arrived to the place of incident. Dog squad and finger prints experts too have arrived to the spot and examined the place of burglary.
A case has been registered in the Kundapur police station.
The series of burglary, which has taken place in the heart of city on the main road has created a panic amongst the public and demanded the police department to arrest the culprits immediately and apply brake on this type of burglaries soon.
