Moodbidri: In a major breakthrough in the Moodbidri Basadi idol theft case, Mangalore police nabbed the main accused Ghansham Alias Santhosh Das in Bhubaneshwar.
According to the sources, the accused will be brought to the city by Sunday, July 28 evening.
Earlier the police have recovered miniature idols made of precious metals at Bhubaneshwar and arrested two in relation to the case.
Deepthi (23), wife of the prime culprit Santhosh Das and his father-in-law Digambar Mohanty (59) were arrested. Santhosh Das was absconding. They were produced in court and remanded in judicial custody till July 30.
Burglers targeted the ancient Pratimadarshana Siddantha Basadi and looted the valuable statues worth crores.
The loot at the Gurubasadi of Moodbidri, what is popularly called as ‘Kashi of Jains’ on July 5, had shaken the entire community and others as well.
