Vittla: Gang assaults youth belonging to Hindu group; Revenge suspected

Vittla, July 16: In an  incident that took place at Kepu near Vittla on Sunday night, a gang has allegedly assaulted a youth belonging to a Hindu Organization. It is learnt that the group that attempted a murder hails from Kerala and that the assault was committed on the supari given by a few belonging to Vittla.

Ganesh Poojary(22), son of Annu Poojary, a resident of Nirkaje, Kepu is the one upon whom the murder was planned. As per the reports, Ganesh was beaten brutally with the help of an iron rod. The impact of the beatings was such that the victim has sustained fractures in both his legs and also has hurt his left hand.

As per the information received, Ganesh was travelling from Vittla at around 9.30p.m. on Sunday. An unidentified person is said to have followed him. As Ganesh neared Kepu temple, the rider from the other motorcycle initiated a conversation with Ganesh. As both were involved in a conversation, a five men who arrived there in a pickup smashed Ganesh.

As per the statements recorded from Ganesh, the miscreants discussed among themselves that they would kill him and dispose the body in a water body nearby. Ganesh said that he could process their sayings as they spoke to each other in Kannada and Malayalam.

A local, on hearing the scream of Ganesh, reportedly came out of the house with torchlight. The culprits, on seeing the light are said to have fled the spot. The local who luckily, happened to spot Ganesh, somehow managed to inform the friends of Ganesh. He was then admitted to a hospital in Puttur. The police who arrived at the spot late night, recovered footwear and a helmet left behind by the criminals.

Ganesh has rested his doubt on three. The victim being a part of Hindu associations, was involved in various cases. Complaints have been registered against Ganesh in the past in relation to various issues. He was a part of the fight that took place a few days ago in Kashimath. Ganesh had also involved himself in a fight that took place at Anyadka in the border region of Karnataka-Kerala.

It is suspected that the assault could be the outcome of revenge.
