Mangaluru, December 16: “Vijay Diwas” was observed under the organization of the Dakshina Kananda district ex-service men association at the War Memorial situated in Kadri Hills here at 9am on Wednesday, December 16th.
In commemoration of the victory of India over Pakistan on December 16th -1971, and also to commemorate the sacrifices made by the soldiers in this regard, “Vijay Diwas” will be observed every year, said the president of the association Vikram Dutt.
The event was jointly held by the Lions Club-117D of the district and Sahstavu Bhootanatheshwara temple trust.
Brigadier I N Rai, Vijay Diwas Samithi president Col. N Sharath Bhandary, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim, and other dignitaries offered garlands/bouquets to the war memorial and paid homage to the Martyers.
