Agumbe records highest rainfall of 172.5mm in Karnataka

MANGALORE: Agumbe in Thirthahalli taluk of Shimoga district recorded maximum rainfall of 172.5mm in Karnataka in last 24-hours up to 8.30am on Saturday. Basavakalyan hobli in Basavakalyan taluk in Bidar district recorded maximum temperature of 34.3°C on July 5 at 4.15pm. Mudigere hobli in Mudigere taluk of Chikmagalur district recorded lowest minimum temperature of 18.4°C on July 6 from 5am to 5.30am, KSNDMC, Bangalore said.

More than 90% relative humidity has been recorded in 27% geographical area in the state. Less than 25% of relative humidity has been recorded in 0% geographical area in the state. Rainfall over Karnataka is considered scattered since 30% of hoblis and GPs recorded rainfall greater than or equal to 2.5mm. Rainfall was widespread in five districts; fairly widespread over one; scattered in eight; isolated in 13; and negligible over 3 districts respectively.

Very heavy was reported in two districts; heavy rain over six districts; rather heavy rain over 13 districts; moderate rain over six districts; light rain over two districts and no rain over one distric. South-west monsoon was normal over 14 districts and weak over remaining 18 districts. Widespread, heavy to very heavy rain was received in Uttara Kannada, Kodagu, Udupi, Shimoga and Dakshina Kannada districts.

Fairly widespread, very heavy rain was received in Chikmagalur. Scattered, moderate to heavy rain was received in Gulbarga, Bangalore urban, Ramanagar, Chikkaballapur, Hassan, Yadgir, Bidar and Dharwad. Isolated, light to heavy rain was received in Bijapur, Bellary, Mysore, Davangere, Chamarajanagar, Bangalore rural, Belgaum, Haveri, Chitradurga, Raichur, Tumkur, Gadag and Kolar.Dry weather condition prevailed in remaining parts of the state.

Karnataka for the period June 30 to July 6 recorded surplus rainfall of 36%. Against normal weighted average rainfall of 286.4mm in south-interior, north-interior, malnad and coastal parts, state recorded rainfall of 390.1mm. For 24-hours period ending 8.30am on July 6, four geographical regions received 41mm actual weighted average rainfall against normal weighted average rainfall of 35.3mm, a 16% deficit departure from normal.
