Kasargod, July 04: The man identified as Rathish, aged 31, a resident of Tsunami colony in Kaddapura in the district was arrested by the Kasargod police on charges of selling two of his male children for money.
Sources said that he has sold his two sons for Rs 1.6 lac.He sold eight months old Nikhil one and half years ago and second six months old Bablu just a fortnight ago.
He informed that sale of the second son was negotiated by a city based advocate. It is said that one of the two children was found from Mangalore and he is being questioned for additional details in the case.
It is said that Prema,his wife was being tortured frequently and she in turn unable to bear the torture lodged a complaint in this regard and during investigation, this incident came to light.
It is learnt that Nikhil was told to a man from Kundapur for Rs 60,000 and Bablu was sold for Rs 1 lac with the help of a lady advocate from Mangalore. Later during investigation, police found Bablu in a house in Mangalore and took him into custody and hunt is on to the trace of Nikhil in Kundapur.
Sources said Rathish had left his first wife and three children and even Prema too had left her husband. Later both Rathish and Prema fell in love each other and started living together and children were sold off by Ritesh.
Sources also said the duo left for Mumbai with the money received from selling their children.In Mumbai Rathish had even planned to abandon Prema but it did not succeed. Later in Kasargod, he allegedly tortured prema and unable to bear the pain, she filed a complaint with Kasargod police.
Rathish, who is in custody, has confessed to the crime. |
