Mangaluru, June 12: The MLC Ivan D’Souza has directed the police officials to shift the Kankanady police station at the earliest as the building is in a bad state.
MLC Ivan D’Souza inspected the Mangaluru Rural Police station, on Friday, June 12th examined the state of the building and insisted the officials to vacate the building sooner.
Speaking to the media later after the inspection, MLC Ivan D’Souza said, the police station building is in a bad condition. News papers had also published about this. Six months ago, I have raised this matter in the legislative council. Home Minister had said, the police station will be built with the state grant once the suitable land is identified, he said.
Ivan said, the police officials have been looking for the suitable land to build the station and there has been a delay due to technical glitches. I have directed the police officials to vacate the building sooner.
DCP Vishnuvardhan has assured of shifting from the building. Along with me the district in-charge minister and local MLA, will work together to do the necessary steps in this regard.
We were in search for a right place from a long time. The police station building must be accessible to the public’s. In this view, we have to choose a right place for building the police station which takes some time. We will vacate this building at the earliest, said DCP Vishnuvardhan.
During the visit, Mayor Jacintha Alfred, Deputy Mayor Purushottam Chitrapura, ACP Kalyan Shetty and others were present.
