Dereliction of duty cost 6 teacher’s job at Aletty ZP school in Sullia.

Mangalore/Sullia, June 4: It has been reported that six teachers and second grade assistant including the in-charge headmistress of the Aletty ZP School in Sullia taluk have been suspended from the service by deputy director of public instructions, during his surprise visit for non-performance of their duties on June 3, Monday.

The first ever crackdown by  deputy director of public instructions following several complaints of dereliction of duty, regular absenteeism without any prior notice and entrusting of personal works to students prompted authorities to act on time.

Based on the report submitted to the Zilla panchayat by block education officer Malleswamy,authorities had gone through the report and in fact some of the complaints stated in the report were found to be genuine, which had adverse impact on the academic results of the students. Even ZP enquiry held in March has also suggested to take disciplinary action against erring teachers but had to postpone in the wake of the annual exams.

During the surprise visit of DDPI, Sandhya, the in-charge headmistress was absent and even the teacher Chandrashekar to whom she had handed over charge was also absent.

The in-charge headmistress Sandhya,Chandrashekar,Hariprasad,V Subramanya,Shiakumar,K Chandramathi and second grade assistant Yogish Bharath have been suspended from the service.

Dr Sunder Kenaje, resource officer of block resource centre has now been appointed in-charge headmaster of the school by DDPI.The remaining teachers vacancies will also be filled shortly.

Only five students were admitted during the current academic year.
