Mangalore/Chikmagalur, May 18: In a release from the congress office on May 17, Friday Lok Sabha member (MP) K, Jayaprakash said that the railway projects being implemented in the district are progressing rapidly and the Kadur Chickmagalur railway project will be dedicated to the public soon.
Further he said that first survey of the Chickmagalur-Belur railway line works is complete and the second stage survey is in progress. Nearly 180 trackmen posts will be created for the line between Chickmagalur-Kadur, he added.
Local residents and the members of those families who lost their lands for the railway line project will be considered on priority basis while filling up these vacant posts, he added.
Over-bridges are constructed near Sakarayapatna, Bisalehalli and Karthikere.Deputy commissioner has been directed to lay parallel roads near these over-bridges to help villagers cross the railway track, the MP said.
Reacting to the plan to extend railway track between Chickmagalur and Sakleshpur, Hegde informed that in the initial stage survey was done till Belur and it was proposed to acquire 161 acres for laying track to a distance of 15 km within the district.
Seven villages-Amble, Banavara, Ganjalagodu, Hadihalli, Kambihalli, Malalur and Tegur are covered under this area, he added.
Similarly, an area of 137 acres over a distance of 6 km in Hassan district is proposed to be taken over, he said.
