Vandana Award; to be conferred on Director Kasargod Chinna.

MANGALORE, May 14: It has been reported that Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy chairman Kasargod Chinna and Mobility Training Centre for the Blind, an organisation serving for the cause of visually impaired, have been selected for state-level Vandana Award.

Rotary Club of Mangalore Central in association with rotary club of Mangalore city as part of their vocational service projects have instituted the prestigious state-level Vandana Award, which is conferred annually on the achievers in recognition and in appreciation of their outstanding achievements in their respective field of service such as art, music, culture, science, sports and community service.

Rotary Club of Mangalore Central secretary Anil Gonsalves said that artist Kasargod Chinna has been nominated for the award for his significant achievements in the field of art, culture and literature. Surya Prakash Bhat, Secretary of Mobility Training Centre for the Blind, Mangalore has been chosen for the very noble and invaluable services to the cause of visually impaired. The award comprises of a citation and a plaque, he said.

The award presentation ceremony will be held on May 17 at Rotary Bala Bhavan, Gandhi Nagar, M’lore. Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation Mohan Alva, Rotary assistant governor Sadashiva Shetty and district Rotaract representative Shailendra Rao will be the guests. President of the club Sureshchandra Shetty will preside over the function and chairman of Awards Committee B. Devdas Rai will deliver the felicitation address, sources said.
