For Aditi Namburi, it was like a dream come true to meet her favourite cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. The god of cricket paid a surprise visit to Hyderabad on Friday. People who knew about his visit had remained tight-lipped since the event had been postponed a couple of times in the past because of his tight schedule.
Only a lucky few got to meet Sachin during an event in the city. Aditi says, “There were around 40 people all waiting to have a word with him. It was a short visit, for around 20 minutes. This was followed by a photography session that lasted for around eight minutes. Sachin also patiently posed with everyone.”
“When I asked him for a selfie, Sachin started laughing. He then asked me to wait until he was done with all the photographs. As promised, he came back. He then started talking about how selfie was the latest fad now,” adds Aditi.
During the event, Sachin also spoke about his cricketing days and mentioned that Pragyan Ojha used to bring biryani to his hotel room every time he visited Hyderabad. Dr Kazim, the co-owner of the restaurant, adds, “It was a private affair and was long due. We were happy that Sachin could finally pay a visit. Only members of our family, friends and a few close associates were present. Whenever he is in Hyderabad, he and the other team members make sure that they don’t miss the biryani here.”
Sachin was in Hyderabad for just half-a-day and left by evening.
