THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Dec 12, 2013, DHNS: Cricketer S Sreesanth on Thursday tied the knot with Bhuvaneshwari Kumari Shekhawat in Guruvayur at a function that was attended by the couple’s close friends and families.
Bhuvaneshwari, member of a royal family from Rajasthan, is a jewellery designer. According to reports, Sreesanth has known her for close to six years.
The traditional Kerala-style wedding – at the Sri Krishna Temple – didn’t have the staples of high-profile celebrity weddings and the media presence was also kept low-key. After the wedding, the couple left for the cricketer’s hometown Kochi.
A reception was held in Kochi in the evening. Ceremonies in the run-up to the wedding were held in Kochi on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Sreesanth is facing allegations of spot-fixing during the last edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) where he played for the Rajasthan Royals franchise. Sreesanth has had a career of fluctuating fortunes with his off-field persona and scandals clouding his performances on the pitch. His arrest and subsequent ban from cricket had been dubbed as an end of his controversial career even as some of his supporters continued to allege that the cricketer was given a raw deal by the sport’s governing authorities.
