New Delhi, July 28;Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Sunday attacked Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan over the mining controversy in the state and asked him to show courage and face a no confidence motion.
“Madhya Pradesh BJP scared of facing no confidence motion moved by Congress. Seven cases of corruption of CM’s relations to be exposed. Would he show courage,” Mr. Singh commented on the microblogging site Twitter.
His comments came a day after the Congress Legislature Party leader in Madhya Pradesh Ajay Singh asked the chief minister to resign immediately on moral grounds.
“Chouhan should also immediately sack Mineral Resources minister Rajendra Shukla and Technical education and Public Relations minister Laxmikant Sharma,” he had said.
During a raid on two influential Bhopal-based businessmen Dilip Suryavanshi and Sudhir Sharma, the income tax department had recovered diaries which had entries claiming that the two ministers had been paid bribes. The case is now being probed by CBI and Enforcement Directorate.
Mr. Singh claimed that complaints against the two ministers are pending before the state Lokayukta but the Chief Minister has not accorded sanction against the two yet.
The Congress leader alleged Mr. Chouhan has remained a mute spectator to the corruption in his government and this indicated his involvement in the corrupt practices.
Madhya Pradesh is due for polls later this year and the state is witnessing a slug fest between the ruling BJP and the Congress for wresting power in the state.
