New Delhi: Former Union minister and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday lost his cool after being asked questions on the investigation in the mysterious murder case of his wife Sunanda Pushkar.

“Scummy channel accuses me of evading questions. I speak to the police & investigators, not to self-appointed vigilante liars. Told them so,” Tharoor tweeted after the incident.

In a series of tweets, Tharoor also said, “I let myself down by shouting in fury at a badgering hack whom, I had often been kind to. Won’t again. I regret giving them the satisfaction.”

Earlier on Wednesday, a Delhi court granted permission to the Delhi police to conduct polygraph tests on the suspects in the Sunanda Pushkar murder case.

The SHO of Sarojini Nagar police station had earlier moved a plea before the court seeking permission to conduct the polygraph test on the grounds that the suspects — Pushkar’s husband and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s domestic help Narain Singh, driver Bajrangi and friend Sanjay Dewan — were hiding material facts.

On Wednesday, during the hearing, the trio said that they were willing to undergo the polygraph test. After hearing their submission, metropolitan magistrate Sunil Kumar Sharma allowed the Delhi police to conduct the lie-detector test on them. “Application for polygraph test on the three suspects is allowed, subject to NHRC and the Supreme Court guidelines,” the court noted in its order.

During the hearing, the cops argued that the suspects were hiding crucial facts regarding the injuries on Pushkar’s body. The defence counsel, appearing for the suspects, on the other hand, argued that their clients were fully cooperating with the police.
