Hundreds mourn former Arunachal CM Jarbom Gamlin’s death

Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh): Hundreds of people gathered at Naharlagun helipad this afternoon to pay tribute to former Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin.

The mortal remains of Gamlin, brought from Guwahati in a copter at Naharlagun helipad, was kept at the helipad for a brief period with full state honours and later flown to Aalo.

The funeral would take place tomorrow where majority of the ministers, parliamentary secretaries, MLAs and leaders from various political parties, followers and well wishers would take part, family sources informed.

The state government has declared a holiday tomorrow. Gamlin died on Sunday night while undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon. He was suffering from liver thrombosis which affected other vital organs.

The 53-year-old Gamlin is survived by his wife, three daughters and a son. Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, who was in New Delhi along with Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi, made all arrangements for transportation of his mortal remains to Aalo via Itanagar.
