Hyderabad: A hair-dresser allegedly attempted to rape a four year-old girl in Hydershakote in Narsingi. He took the victim inside his shop and pulled the shutter down. The child’s mother, noticed this and alerted locals who rushed to her rescue. The victim and the accused are neighbours. According to the police, on Wednesday evening, the victim was playing in front of the shop when Suresh took her inside the shop. Since the victim knew him, she went willingly. Suresh pulled the shutter down when she went inside. The girl started crying and the victim’s mother, who noticed this, alerted the locals.
“She informed other locals, ran to the shop and pushed open the shutter. Suresh denied he had done anything wrong and fled the spot. However, he was arrested later and remanded,” said Sudheer, sub-inspector of Narsingi. The police took Suresh into custody but he denied the allegations and claimed he had pulled the shutter down to prevent dust from entering. “He said the girl frequently comes to the shop and plays with him and he had never tried to harm her,” Mr Sudheer said. Based on the complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, a case for attempt to rape was registered and is being investigated. The victim was sent to the hospital. Officials said Suresh, who is a bachelor, suffers from epilepsy.
