A 22-year-old Moroccan woman, who was caught at a hotel room having paid sex with a Kuwaiti man, has been sentenced to one year in prison for working as a prostitute.
The Court of First Instance sentenced the Kuwaiti resident, 23, identified as A.Q, to three months in jail on the charge of having illicit sex and ordered that both defendants be deported after serving their jail terms.
The pair was arrested on May 6 at a hotel in Al Muraqqabat.
The woman, identified as G.B, whose known job is a clerk, admitted in the investigation that the co-defendant was one of her customers and she had sex with him around 4:30 am on May 6.
She confessed that she earned her living by working as a prostitute and usually charged between Dh1,000 and Dh1,500 for the act. She told the prosecutor that she had been having sex with different Arab men with an average of one man a day.
The Criminal Evidence report showed that the woman had indulged in sex shortly before her arrest.
A.Q admitted that he had consensual sex with G.B twice on the night she was arrested and paid her Dh 1,200 through an Egyptian woman.
Both accused may appeal the verdict within 15 days.
