Abu Dhabi Police to distribute 30, 000 iftar meals during Ramadan

The iftar meals distribution will be coordinated with the Department of Border Security just before Maghreb prayer.

The Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters will distribute 30,000 Iftar meals to internal and external road users in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, the Western Region, and to travellers arriving and departing through the border points in Al Ain and Al Ghuwaifat during the Holy Month of Ramadan, to highlight the solidarity norms of the holy month.

The iftar meals distribution will be coordinated with the Department of Border Security just before Maghreb prayer.

Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police said, “This initiative is undertaken by the Community Police, as well as the various patrols affiliated with police stations in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region. It is in line with the directives of Lt-General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to strengthen partnerships with all sectors of society, especially the road users to curb the traffic accidents caused by speed just before the iftar time.”

For his part, Brig. Eng Hussein Ahmed Al Harethi, Director of the Department of Traffic and Patrols at Abu Dhabi Police, said the department coordinated with Al Ihsan Charity Association and Sa’ed Society to Reduce Traffic Accidents to distribute the meals at the intersections in Abu Dhabi City to upgrade safety and reduce speed of drivers who hurry to arrive at iftar meal time.

He urged the motorists to observe the mandatory speed limit on the internal and external roads, as well as other traffic regulations.
