The unemployed man is believed to have assaulted the Emirati teenager a few hours after meeting her at the games area in a mall.
A 32-year-old man allegedly went out with a teenage girl, 13, shortly after meeting her at a shopping mall and then took her to his home where he had sex with her repeatedly in two days.
The unemployed man, a Comoros Islands passport holder, is believed to have assaulted the Emirati teenager a few hours after meeting her at the games area in a mall. He stood trial in the Court of First Instance on the charges of sexually assaulting and raping a minor.
The incident allegedly happened on April 9 and 10.
A police lieutenant said the girl’s mother reported at the Rashidiya police station that her daughter had gone missing from her grandmother’s place in Al Khawaneej. “Her parents provided us with a mobile number from which they were contacted. Her mother said that she tried to call that number in vain.”
The police later apprehended the owner of the number. “He admitted he had gone out with the girl and then dropped her at a shopping mall. The man said that he got worried when he received many calls so he dropped the girl shortly later.”
The police learnt that the girl went with another man in his car. By tracking the plate number of the man’s car, the police could arrest the accused at a petrol station after midnight on April 11.
“The accused admitted that he took the girl to his house where he had sex with her with her consent. He claimed that she had told him that her age was 18 or 19,” the officer added.
The girl told the investigators that she met the accused at a shopping mall shortly after her friend dropped her there at 10pm. She was wandering for half an hour alone there when she came across him.
She went out with him to a cafe in Jumeirah and then went with him to his apartment in Sharjah. There he had sex with her several times.
They spent the whole next day together and they played at Ski Dubai and he bought her new clothes. He then bought her dinner and took her back to his place where he again had sex with her.
He was summoned by the Criminal Investigation Department officers stationed at the mall around 1am. The girl was later brought from his place by the CIDs.
