The first baby of 2014 in the UAE was born nine seconds after the clock struck midnight.
Abdullah, born to Emirati parents Abdul Jaleel and Fatima Al Mazroue, weighed 3.14kgs at the Corniche Hospital in Abu Dhabi. “Abdullah is their first child, and they are very excited about his birth,” said a nurse on duty at the hospital.
The Corniche Hospital welcomed three babies after 12am. The second was a girl child, named Mazna, and she was born at 2.27am to Emirati parents Saeed Al Marzoq and Safeha Al Aubedlay. The excited parents said the baby weighed 3.1kgs at birth and she was their second child. The third and girl child at the Corniche Hospital was born at 7.18am to Emirati parents Wafa Al Junaibi and Mohammed Al Junaibi.
Dorar is the couple’s sixth child. “The babies are all safe and healthy. The parents are excited to welcome their little bundles of joy in the New Year. I guess they will never forget their child’s birthday,” added the nurse on duty.
Dubai welcomed its first baby in the New Year at 12.53am at Latifa Hospital. The child, according to hospital authorities, is a healthy Emirati boy.
“We also had a woman deliver a baby girl at 11.53pm, on December 31, 2013, just seven minutes shy of 12am,” said a staff nurse at Latifa Hospital. The other two Dubai babies were born at NMC Specialty Hospital and Dubai Hospital respectively. A girl child was born at 12.58am at Dubai Hospital, and an Emirati boy was born at 2.28am at NMC Specialty Hospital.
The first baby born in Sharjah Al Zahra Hospital at 2.42am on January 1, 2014 was a girl child, born to Emirati mother Mariam Ishaq Gholam weighed 2.2kgs. Both mother and daughter are said to be in good health.
