Three members of an Indian family in Ras Al Khaimah succumbed to severe burn injuries after their villa caught fire. The victims include a two-year-old baby girl and a Kindergarten student of Indian School Ras Al Khaimah, according to family sources.

The early morning fire today caused the deaths of the family including the father and two young daughters, while the children’s mother is currently undergoing treatment in a Ras Al Khaimah hospital.

“More details of the fire are expected. Three members of the Indian family who were living in a villa in Julan area of Ras al Khaimah have died and a woman has survived the fire. The victims are Shihabudeen, an employee of Arab Indian Foodstuff Company, Ras al Khaimah, Sina Shihabudeen LKG student of Indian School, Ras al Khaimah, and the two-year-old baby girl,” said sources in Ras al Khamah Indian School.

The family went out for the UAE National Day celebrations came back after midnight. The fire is suspected to have erupted from an induction cooker, but details are not known. “Three members of the family were already dead, when they were brought to the Sakhir Hospital in Ras al Khaima. The mother is undergoing treatment for minor burn injuries on her face, arms and is out of danger. We are expecting more details,” said an Indian community association member.

The family hailed form Kottakkal in Malappuram district of Kerala. Sources said the deceased Shihabudeen who used to work in the food company recently was in the process of changing his visa and job. Ras al Khaimah Indian School officials confirmed the death of their LKG student and said the school is currently closed for the UAE national day and there will be condolence meetings and mourning.
