Abu Dhabi, Feb 12: Indian Cultural Society, an NRI wing of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), has arranged a reception program to party’s national advisor Mr. Ilyas Mohammad Thumbay, on February 12, 2015 at Madina Zayed, Lulu Party Hall, Abu Dhabi.
The grand program was started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Mr. Nasir Kareje, President of Indian Cultural Society, Karnataka Chapter, UAE, presided over the function. The Program was graced by the presence of Mr. Majeed Aladka, President of Indian Cultural Society, Abu Dhabi Sector and Mr. Mubarak Parangipete, General Secretary, Indian Cultural Society, Abu Dhabi, UAE. The Chief guest and main speaker of the event was Mr. Ilyas Mohammad Thumbay.
Mr. Naseer Karaje in his Presidential address welcomed the honorable guests and overwhelmed audience with short introduction. He explained the services rendered by Indian Cultural Society in the Emirates among expatriate community. He quoted recent Supreme Court Verdict on NRE voting rights, A Non-Resident citizen of India, who is not included in the electoral roll, is eligible to be registered as a voter in the constituency in which his place of residence in India as mentioned in his passport is located. In this connection, recently Indian Cultural Society delegation met Karnataka State Ministers and MLA’s and requested them to speed up the
process of NRE E-voting registration and urged Karnataka Election Commission to update the website.
He said that Indian Cultural Society is a Socio political platform of expatriate Indians dedicated for the welfare of the Indian expats. The sole intention of this Forum is to unite the expatriate Indian community cutting across cast, creed and religion and to politically educate them.
In response to wholehearted reception, delivering the key note address on this occasion Mr. Ilyas Thumbay said, SDPI party is not formed for political thrust or self-intended interests. Rather, it formed for the empowerment of all marginalized sections of the society by mobilizing themselves into a political force, instead of remaining as mere vote banks of different political parties in elections. He gave brief presentation about Why SDPI and recent achievements of party.
He said, the two major parties, one is indulging in communalization and another one is covered with corruption, until Aam Admi Party (AAP) achievement there was no alternative political party, this shows how the people rejected two major parties, it is lesson for us to unite ourselves to achieve our dreams. Before we were compel to vote the so called secular parties, Therefore we have to work in this regard to bring the SDPI in power to safeguard the constitution values and uplift the Minorities, back ward class and especially Muslims and to give them impartial justice and rights to all Indians. On this occasion Mr. Ilyas Thumbay on behalf of SDPI congratulated the AAP for his recent success in Delhi Election.
He gave various examples of injustice met by Minorities, backward communities, especially Muslims by so called safe guard of parties. He said that the people in India have lost trust on major parties. The entire election process has been corrupted due to communalization and family politics. In such a grim scenario the SDPI has emerged as a strong political alternative, claimed Mr. Ilyas Thumbay.
All the parties used us as vote bank and since Independence cheated us with false promises and assurances. E.g. non implementations of Justice Sachar Committee report, Ranganath Mishra report, Shri Krishna Commission, Justice Liberhan Commission etc. He said our secularism and socialism is in threat due to grave silence of administration.
SDPI is the party of marginalized sections of India which include minorities, Dalits and other backwards. It is setting its foot out for a struggle to recapture the country’s stolen fruits of freedom, sovereignty and development. The party has put forth the slogan of ‘Freedom from Hunger, Freedom from Fear’.
In a democracy, specific interest groups have the liberty to participate in democratic processes to struggle for their fair share, to influence government’s policies and to defend and advocate their interests, provided they are within the Constitutional framework. He emphasized the audience that today by attending this event you have accepted the challenge to live dignified life and keep on hope for a Socio Democratic county of India where all the people shall live in peace, without fear and hunger. The large number of audience and well-wishers accepted the SDPI membership during the event and a question and answer session was conducted.
The program was concluded with light refreshment and Mr. Majeed Aladka, President of Indian Cultural Society, Abu Dhabi chapter, conducted vote of thanks program while Mr. Shareef Sarve, General Secretary of Indian Cultural Society, Karnataka chapter, UAE, compered the disciplined program. Huge number of expatriates participated during the occasion. Executive Members of Indian Cultural Society, Abu Dhabi, and disciplined volunteers helped to make the event a grand success.
