Alcohol factory raided by Royal Oman Police

Muscat: The Directorate General of Inquiries and Investigations of the Royal Oman Police (ROP) in Barka arrested six Asians for manufacturing alcoholic beverages.

An official source from the ROP said that the accused had rented a house in A’Sallaha and used it to manufacture and bottle alcoholic beverages. More than 3,200 cartons of alcoholic drinks and some materials used for making the products were seized from their possession.

Legal procedures have been initiated against the accused and they have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further.

ROP foils attempt to smuggle firecrackers

Police officials at the Hafeet border post foiled an attempt by two citizens to smuggle in a large amount of firecrackers, said a source at the Royal Oman Police (ROP). The ROP seized around 132 toy guns and 10 boxes of ammunition for the toy gun and 10 boxes of cherry bombs which were hidden in the trunk of the vehicle.

The accused confessed to their crime and stated that the firecrackers were for commercial and personal use.

In another case, customs officers seized firecrackers hidden under the driver’s seat and the rear seat of a citizen’s vehicle.

ROP arrests 135 for theft in June

A Royal Oman Police official said that around 135 people were arrested in 97 cases of theft in various governorates of the Sultanate.

Three arrested for possession of drugs in Buraimi

The Directorate General for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances of the Al Buraimi Police Department arrested three citizens for possession of drugs with the intent of trafficking and abuse.

The ROP source said that the three suspects were arrested at the new Al Sa’ara area in Buraimi while they were attempting to offer some drugs to a client. More than 4,500 psychotropic pills were seized from their possession along with 15 bottles of methadone.
