Dina Deetiji at the Billava Chavadi 2016, a Grand Success

Billava Sangha Kuwait organized the “Billava Chavadi-2016”, an open to all event on 23rd September 2016 at the Cambridge School Auditorium, Mangaf, Kuwait. It was a houseful show with grand success.

The program commenced with the prayer rendered by Ms. Kavya Prashanth. The lighting of the lamp was done by the Chief Guest – Shree Rajshekar Kotian, the Guest of Honour – Shree A K Srivastava, Second Secretary for Press, Information and Culture of the Embassy of Kuwait India, the General Secretary of Saradhi Kuwait – Mr. Sajeev Narayan and the Management Committee of Billava Sangha Kuwait. Mr. Satish Shivappa Poojary, editor and film producer from Mumbai and Mr. Harish Bhandary, President of Tulu Koota Kuwait were present in the audience as the distinguished guest of the evening. It was followed by a release of the Souvenir “Billava Bolpu” by the Chief Guest of the event.

The president of BSK, Mr. Chitrek Bangera thereafter welcomed the audience with a humble speech which was followed by a welcome Bharathnatyan Classical dance performed by Ms. Niveditha Reddy. The BSK budding talents then entertained the audience by a Brahma Shree Narayan Guru dance to celebrate his 162nd birthday, a Bollywood dance by the Rockstar dance group and a Pili Vesha (tiger dance) by the little twin talents.

The guest artists, who came all the way from Mangalore, Mr. Rakesh BC Road, Mr. Nellu Permanur and Mr. Manoj Bangera were honoured with a memento by the Chief Guest. It was followed by the felicitation of the Sponsors of the event, Gold Sponsor – Bharat Bank, Silver Sponsors – Khalil Bhaman & Partners, Alghanim Fencing Industries Co, Al Qattan AC and Refrigeration Co, VK Rupa Harish and Family, Pacific International and BEC.

The Chief Guest for the event Honourable Shree Raj Shekar Kotian – Producer, Director, Actor and Karnataka Movie Award Recipient was on his first visit to the State of Kuwait and during his address to the audience, humbly said that he was very impressed to meet people of Tulu nadu in Kuwait under one roof and said that we must stay united under all circumstances. He also mentioned that he was very happy to know that people from all income groups donated their hard earned money to support the charity and scholarship needs of the deprived people back home in Mangalore. He was honoured by the President, Vice President and the Second Secretary with a shawl, garland, memento and a basket of fruits.

Mr. Satish Kunder, the head of the scholarship program, briefed the audience about the scholarship event that was held on the 28th August 2016 in Shree Gokarnanatha Kshetra, Kudroli, Mangalore in association with Shree Guru Charitable Trust, Surathkal. Hemant Suvarna and Ashwitha Surendra Poojary kept the audience mesmerized with their soulful voices.

The cultural events and felicitation was followed by the most awaited “Dina Deetiji” comedy Tulu drama which started with a bang and left the audience in splits for the next 3 hours. Outstanding acting, comedy punches, timing of the actors and the well written story were the highlights of the day. The drama ran a houseful show from the beginning to the end, showing that the audience simply loved the drama all through.

It was written by the eminent drama writer, Rakesh BC Road, directed by famed artists Satish Acharya and Praveen Kotian Koddakal. The celebrated musicians Nellu Permanur and Purander Manchi gave the music for the drama. The drama casted some of the most admired and loved local artists, Lucy Lobo Aranha, Johnson D’Almeida, Satish Acharya, Praveen Kotian Koddakal, Purander Manchi, Manoj Bangera, Amarnath Suvarna, Jyothi Sudhir Suvarna, Krishna Poojary, Kavya Prashanth, Mithun Vishwanath and Sujit Kotian.

The event was well coordinated by the Cultural Secretary, Mithun Vishwanath, while the event was very hosted in poise and style by Ashwitha Surendra Poojary, The Vote of Thanks was given by the General Secretary, Sushma Bangera. The sound and lighting was done by Zain Events, while photography and videography done by Moon Media.
