Brilliant Performance by Mangalore Students, Six CFAL Students Selected for “Kishore Vaigyani” Fellowship

Mangalore, April3:Mrs.SevarineRosario-Principal, Centre for Advanced learning, Kuntikana, Mangalore has said in press meet  that today the 3rd April, being the happiest moment for Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL), as six students from this institution have been selected for prestigious “KISHORE VAIGYANI PROTSAHAN YOJANA (2012-2013) fellowships.

This programme was started way back in 1999 by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt.of India, in view of motivating students of Basic Science to take up research careers in these fields. Selection for this is purely on the basis of academic performance of the students as well as their interest in pursuing research as career, she explained.

Selected students will have a direct admission opportunity in to prestigious institutions such as Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research and other institutions. The programme has been designed only in view of  identify and encourage talented students who have an aptitude for Research.

Every year in the month of October/November around 10,000 students from India are called for written test after scrutiny of application forms based on the performance in the 10th board examination. Students who have scored highest in the written test will be called for an interview. This year out of 1056 selected nationally as finalist, six students are from Mangalore from CFAL and are declared as “KISHORE VAIGYANI” as they are eligible for this National level fellowship.

Keerthan Shetty of Sharada P.U.College,Sunil Simha of Kendriya Vidyalaya,Panambur,Joel Martis of St.Aloysius P.U.College,Sharachandra N.B of Lourde’s Central School,Sachin Krishna Raj of Canara P.U.College and Anusha H.L of Kendriya Vidyalaya,Panambur have been selected for this prestigious fellowship 2012-2013.They have obtained All India  Category Ranks of 202,411,669,746,752 and 48 respectively. All these students are pursuing their advanced education at Centre for Advanced Learning, Kuntikana, Mangalore.

Besides receiving a scholarship of Rs.64,000/-to 1,12,000/ per annum as fellowship, these students are also have several other benefits such as direct admission to Institutions that specialize in Basic Sciences, they can attend study camps organized by various scientific institutions and can attend lectures, workshops of renowned Scientists. They are also provided with an ID card which enables them to have an access to various prestigious Laboratories, Libraries, Scientific and research institutions throughout the country.
