Karkardooma_metro_station_DelhiNew Delhi: A 25-year-old woman was shot dead allegedly by her husband while she was on an escalator close to the entrance of a metro station near the Karkardooma court in east Delhi today. The woman’s father was also critically injured in the shooting. The victims, Deepti and her father Bhisham, were shot from behind with a 12 bore double barrel gun around 12:10 pm. The accused, Pawan Kumar, left the gun at the spot and fled. Police says five empty cartridges have been recovered from the spot.

The two were rushed to a hospital where Deepti succumbed to her injuries. Her father is still critical. The police has stressed that there was no security breach at the metro station as the attacker shot at the two from outside and did not carry the weapons into the station. This is the second shooting reported in the Capital today. A Bahujan Samaj Party leader and real estate tycoon, Deepak Bhardwaj, was shot dead this morning at a South West Delhi hotel.
