Dubai: Delhi Daredevils won against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Dubai International Stadium today by 4 wickets in a cliffhanger that went down to the wires.

They lost wickets early but a steady partnership between Dinesh Karthik and J P Duminy saw them through.

Kolkata ended their innings at 166/5, overcoming early blows with some steady batting at the middle overs and a late flurry.

Delhi lost Murali Vijay early to a runout, and continued to lose wickets. They were three down pretty soon but Dinesh Karthik steadied the Delhi innings with a quickfire 50, before falling to Sunil Narine.

KKR won the toss and chose to bat against the Delhi Daredevils in this second match today at the Dubai International Stadium.

KKR couldn’t quite make good on the toss as its old warhorse Jacques Kallis was out the first over by pacer Mohammed Shami. Captain Gautam Gambhir followed in the very next over, edging a widish delivery on the leg stump for a duck. This is his second duck though Gambhir has come to this tournament from a good domestic season.

Manish Pandey and Robin Uthappa then steadied the innings, playing cautious strokes and freeing their hands at loose deliveries. Just when they looked set for a big partnership, Pandey fell for a well-earned 48. Uthappa came good with Shakib, making 55 before holing out. Yusuf Pathan and Shakib-ul-Hasan came to the party next, and Sunil Yadav finished it off.

IPL 5 champions Kolkata Knight Riders started their IPL 7 campaign with a thumping win over Mumbai Indians. While their skipper Gambhir failed to score a run, the performance of Kallis and Manish Pandey left KKR team management in a happier space.

On the other hand, DD, were outplayed by Kohli led RCB in their first game. Kevin Pietersen’s injury has made the matters even worse for a revamped Delhi side.
