MUMBAI: A team of Mumbai crime branch on Thursday got the custody of key bookie Chandresh Jain alias Jupiter from the custody of Delhi police.
Mumbai police getting Jupiter’s custody assumes significance as on Friday the Bombay high court is likely to decide on the anticipatory bail applications of another two brother bookies-Sanjay Chabra alias Jaipur and Pawan Chabra alias Jaipur.
The session court has already rejected their bail plea and on Wednesday the two jeweler brothers withdrew their applications of quashing their names from the FIR. Sources said that court will reject their bail.
Jupiter who is the 22nd accused to be arrested will be produced before the Esplanade court on Friday.
Police said that Jupiter’s interrogations will help them solve the big jigsaw as Jupiter’s name figured in the Delhi police’s spot-fixing case following the arrest of Rajasthan Royals players S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan and in Mumbai police’s when police raided Ramesh Vyas’s illegal mobile phone exchange.
“On May 15 night Sreesanth had sent a car to Mumbai international airport to pick up an unknown guest and bring him to his hotel in Bandra. The guest was no other than Jupiter. From the Bandra hotel, Sreesanth, Jiju Janardhan and Jupiter went to Lokhandwala in Andheri, picked up two girls, and returned,” said police source.
The Mumbai police learnt about Jupiter’s role while tracking the phone calls of Vindu Dara Singh. Vindu was not only in touch with the bookie brothers Pawan and Sanjay Jaipur, but also with Jupiter.
Delhi police has arrested another important bookie – Chandresh Jain alias ‘Jupiter’, who was in direct touch with his underworld masters in Pakistan and had, in fact, introduced Ramesh Vyas to Dr Javed Chautani.
