Mangalore, April 6: Rachna Catholic Chamber of Commerce & Industry organized a world convention of Mangalorean businessmen and entrepreneurs ‘Magnet-2014’ at TMA Pai Convention Centre on April 6, Sunday.
Bishop of Mangalore diocese Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza inaugurated the event by opening the treasure box filled with coins, signifying wealth handed over by entrepreneurs Rohan Monteiro and Albert D’Souza.
Speaking on the occasion, Bishop Dr Aloysius D’Souza applauded the effort of Rachana for organizing such a mammoth event in the city.
He also said that late Rachana had been helping young entrepreneurs to set up business, which was later shifted in helping for the growth of the community.
Delivering the key note address on the subject, ’Build brands to build international business’ said that there is need for brand building to establish a strong business.
Rachana president Ivan D’Souza welcomed the gathering while Marcel Monteiro proposed the vote of thanks.
Magnet-2014 convener Walter D’Souza spoke on the themes and objectives of ‘Magnet-2014’.
An exhibition of mini industrial products was also displayed on the occasion.
Rachana printing press owner Anil and Joyce Dais who runs homemade products business from the funds provided by Rachana Cooperative Society were honoured on the occasion.
Former chairman and CEO of Unilever (Peru) Richard Saldanha, Federal Bank executive director Abraham Chacko, Programme committee convener Derek Lobo and Magnet-2014 general secretary Marcel Monteiro were present on the dais.
