This is the sixth year in succession that Fortune Group of Hotels have been successfully organizing Blood Donation Camp at Dubai. This drive is an annual event hosted by the members of Fortune Family to commemorate the Wedding Anniversary of Mrs. Sarojini & Mr. Narayan Shetty; the proud parents of Mr. Praveen Shetty, Chairman – Fortune Group of Hotels.
Its aims at spreading awareness amongst the community on the importance of blood donation and how a drop of blood donated can be instrumental in saving life.
During a crisis, we see the best of humanity when people step up and help their neighbours. Giving blood is considered an essential community service.
This is an extraordinary time and amidst the Coronavirus pandemic, if we don’t come out and donate blood, there are worries of potential blood shortages in the future.
Amid this Coronavirus pandemic, Mr Praveen Shetty, Chairman took this responsibility seriously by practicing social distancing and donating blood.
Speaking on the occasion, he reiterated the need from Blood Banks and said “Social distancing does not have to mean social disengagement, These two activities—which are not mutually exclusive—will go a long way in keeping community members healthy by slowing the spread of the virus and by ensuring that patients across the country receive lifesaving blood”.
He added, we understand that people have concerns right now about all aspects of public health, but want to stress that donating blood is a safe process and people should not hesitate to give. It’s important to note that blood drives have highest standards of safety and infection control.
The organizers under Medical supervision, made sure to space the beds as per guidelines, followed social distancing practices between blood donors and also staggered donor appointment further apart to reduce the number of people at a drive at any one time.
The drive was supported by generous participations from the members and family of KNRI Forum (Karnataka Non Residents Indians Forum) well wishers and friends of Mr Shetty. Some notable people who donated blood were – Mr. Roland Mathis, Mr. Prakash Pakkala, Mr. Rajesh Kuthar, Mr. Pancham Hariramani, Mr. Lawrence Vijaya Cutinha, Mr. Daya Kirodian besides many other staff members of Fortune Group of Hotels.
Also those were present to encourage the drive notably are Mr. Bala Krishna Shalyan, Mr. Prabhakar Ambalthere, Mr. Novel Almeida, Mr Edayat, Mr Yash Karkera, Mr Ashok Belman.
Fortune Group of Hotels also recognized the efforts of Mr. Bala Krishna who has been instrumental in organizing Blood Donation Camps for Karnataka Community, not only today but all across UAE in the past as well.
Mr. Praveen Shetty thanked the efforts of all involved in organizing the event, especially Mr. Vasanth Shetty, all blood donors and the team of doctors, nurses and staff from Latifa Hospital – Blood Donation Center, Dubai – UAE.
