New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav’s son Shailesh Yadav, who was an accused in the multi-crore Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his official residence in Lucknow on Wednesday.

The MPPEB scam, popularly known as Vyapam scam, was unearthed in July 2013 by Indore Police by arresting “Munnabhais” (scorers) who appeared for original candidates in the Pre-Medical Test (PMT) examination conducted by the Board.

Later, the government handed over the case to STF for detailed investigations.

Police said the exact cause of the death could not be ascertained immediately.

“We have got information that Shailesh Yadav, aged about 50, died at the official residence of MP Governor Ram Naresh Yadav at Mall Avenue locality here”, Gautampalli Police Station in-charge, Vidrendra Bahadur Singh said.

Shailesh’s name had cropped up in the multi-crore Vyapam scam, for allegedly fixing the recruitment of 10 candidates as Grade III teachers.

Naresh Yadav, a former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, was appointed Madhya Pradesh Governor by Congress in 2011.

Yadav is perhaps the first Indian governor to be booked in a cheating case.
