Raipur: Chhattisgarh After attacking the central paramilitary forces, the Maoists are now planning to target Army choppers to unleash a reign of terror in tribal areas of Chhattisgarh.

The Red ultras, who are seemingly frustrated with the intensified anti-Naxal operations, are even gathering weapons and their technical knowhow to carry out their task with accuracy.

The chilling information has emerged from materials seized by the security forces during an encounter with the Maoists in Bijapur on November 27.

Apart from Naxal literature, weapons and technical charts of guerrilla wars, the security forces have also recovered study material describing how to shoot down a helicopter.

Needless to say that the ultras want to attack Army choppers which are often sent to airlift jawans who sustain injuries during such encounters.

Police sources say that despite recent shortcomings, the Naxals have managed to gather sophisticated weapons like underbarrel grenade launchers (UGL) which can shoot as far as 700 metres.

Sources say that the Maoists are holding air assault practice sessions in their strongholds in the state.
