Mumbai: The recently concluded Asia Cup T20 saw Mahendra Singh Dhoni and the Indian Team draw many positives besides being 100 per cent sure about the combination ahead of the ICC World T20.
But one of the major highlights was Team India’s Test skipper Virat Kohli. No batsman looked as unmovable as Kohli did with his cool and calm composure scoring runs with great class.
Kohli also has been active sports personality fighting for equal rights for women on various platforms. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, India’s swashbuckling batsman apologised on behalf of all the anti-social elements in the world who disrespect women and their status in society.
Dear girls, Sorry for the jerks, the whistlers, the cat-callers, the blank-callers, the won’t-stop-starers, the “frandship” stalkers, the “accidental” brushers, the glass-ceiling makers. Please don’t let them ruin it for the rest of us. Happy Women’s Day,” Kohli wrote on his official fashion brand Wrogn’s Facebook page.
However, this is not the first time Kohli has taken an initiative to support women in society.
A day prior to the quarterfinal match between India and Bangladesh in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, four Team India members spared a thought for the women of the country. Kohli, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu along with Team Director Ravi Shastri shot a video – on the request of the Hyderabad-based NGO ‘My Choices’ – speaking about women’s rights and the respect they deserve.
