Mumbai: Following the Lodha-committee verdict suspending two-time Indian Premier League champions Chennai Super Kings and winners of the inaugural edition of the tournament, Rajasthan Royal, the Board of Control for Cricket in India is seeking options to decide the road ahead.

It was learnt that Indian cricket board may run the two teams before the suspension comes to an end. However, according to media reports, the BCCI may ask former cricketers with utmost integrity to run the operations of the two franchisees for the period of two years.

While BCCI may eventually take care of the operations, the Indian cricket board is keen to avoid the conflict of interest issue.

Although the outcome of the meeting is still not known, the Indian Premier League commissioner Rajiv Shukla’s rendezvous with BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya is likely to pave way for the two suspended teams.

There are reports floating around about BCCI asking MS Dhoni to manage the Chennai Super Kings during the period of suspension. India’s World Cup-winning skipper is associated with the Chennai-based franchise since the first year of IPL and enjoys a tremendous fan-following; something BCCI wants to preserve.

If that happens, MS Dhoni’s Rhiti Sports could come into picture and end up taking care of CSK’s operations.
