Hyderabad: Hyderabad vice-captain Ahmed Quadri scored his sixth first class century as the hosts continued to send Goa on a leather hunt on Day Two of their Ranji Trophy Group ‘C’ match, being played here at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Monday.Allrounder Quadri became the third centurion — making 115 off 255 deliveries, with eight fours for Hyderabad, who ended the second day on a mammoth 568 for 7.
With only two days’ play left in the match, the match is most likely to end in a draw, especially since the pitch is a batting paradise. The day began with the two opening-day centurions, debutant Tanmay Agarwal and G. Hanuma Vihari, taking their second-wicket partnership past the 300-run mark. Vihari was dismissed for 179 with the score on 318 and for a while, it seemed as though Goa bowlers might be clawing their way back into the game.
Tanmay departed for 135 after only 15 runs while captain D.B. Ravi Teja (10) and B. Anirudh (7) barely caused a ripple. Ashish Reddy then joined Quadri at the crease and struck a belligerent 66 (119 deliveries, five fours and three sixes) as the pair added 138 runs for the sixth wicket.Quadri will pick things up on the third morning, with C.V. Milind (19 batting) for company.
