New Delhi: Younis Khan is going through one of his best forms of his Test career as he notched up another ton on the first day of the second Test match against Australia in Abu Dhabi. Younis bagged the man-of-the-match in the first Test match after notching two successive centuries against the Aussies. He helped his side gain a memorable 1-0 lead in the two-match series. In Abu Dhabi too, he showed he isn’t done yet and is hungry for more.
Earlier, Younis became Pakistan’s highest Test centurion (26) after breaking Inzamam-ul Haq’s record (25) in the first Test in Dubai. The veteran batsman cracked a well paced century (111*) on Thursday and shared a 208-run unbeaten partnership with Azhar Ali for third wicket, with the latter too getting his first international ton against the Aussies. Ali struck an unbeaten 101.
Pakistan finished the day on a commanding position with having lost just two wickets for 304 runs.
Younis also joined the likes of former Pakistani Test greats Zaheer Abbas, Mudassar Nazar and Mohammed Yousuf, in the batsmen’s list to hit three 100s in consecutive Test innings.
With this effort he also became the 15th Pakistani to reach 1000 plus international runs against Australia in Test cricket.
The star player has now gone ahead of Gary Sobers with 27 Test centuries and is level with Michael Clarke, Graeme Smith and Allan Border in the same number.
