Sri Lanka will be without the experience of Lasith Malinga and Rangana Herath in their squad for a one-day international series against India starting next week.

Malinga is injured and was not considered but Herath has been left out along with Lahiru Thirimanne and Dinesh Chandimal.

The five-match series is not part of the official tour programme, but was arranged at short notice after West Indies pulled out of its tour to India due to a pay dispute.

Uncapped seam bowler Lahiru Gamage is included along with off-spinner Suraj Randiv,  who played his last one-day international three years ago, and leg-spinner Seekkuge Prasanna.

Gamage has played in 33 first-class limited-over matches, taking 37 wickets, and has impressed on Sri Lanka A duty.

All-rounder Chaturanga de Silva, who has played in five ODIs for Sri Lanka, will be the third-choice spinner.

Sri Lanka squad: Angelo Mathews (capt), Kusal Perera, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Upul Tharanga, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Ashan Priyanjan, Niroshan Dickwella, Thisara Perera, Nuwan Kulasekara, Dhammika Prasad, Lahiru Gamage, Chaturanga De Silva, Seekkuge Prasanna, Suraj Randiv.
